Huge Frustration in Ukraine : Zelensky Sacked his Army Chief

(Dr.Syed Mehboob, Karachi)

With the mounting debt of US$ 34,000 billion, worsening situation in middle east as Israel is in its continuous plan of planned, organized and history’s worst genocide plan of Palestinians, growing frustration among American forces and recruitment crisis where 50, 000 soldiers are short and American youth with 90% majority do not like to join American forces ,yet the American policy makers insist to continue their hegemonic policies imposed inhumane sanctions on Iran and Russia and their barbaric support to Israel and India allowing them killing of innocent people in Palestine and Kashmir respectively and these policies are now going to pay huge price and situation at the Red Sea is alarming becoming beyond the control of America and its western allies. Billions of people came out on street demanding peace in Palestine and more than 1000 resolutions are passed but USA and UK did not bother to feel ashamed on their support to Israel and stopping UN resolution for ceasefire in Gaza. The dual standard of western democracy and their hypocrisy exposed them.

USA and other Western countries pushed Ukrainian president Voladmy Zelensky, who was an actor readily presented his services for American interests and dragged his country into a fruitless war with Russia ignoring ground realities. Zelensky has little knowledge of global politics and power game relied on USA and other western countries aid and was trapped into the net of western interests and now paying the huge price of his follies. After 7th October, 2023 America and European countries totally focused to save Israel and to support its atrocities and genocide plan against Palestine, started ignoring Ukraine. Now it is an obvious fact that America which is on a burden of US$ 34,000 billion debt can not afford Ukraine support and Ukraine is becoming a liability for it. Now frustration in Ukraine reached at its peak and President Zelensky sacked his armed forces chief Mr. Valeril Zaluzunyi. This act further frustrated and disappointed the Ukrainian armed forces and people. It also shows a growing rift between Ukrainian President and armed forces. Now General Oleksandr Syrkyi was announced as his replacement in a presidential decree. It is the biggest change in military leadership since February ,2022.

Oleksiak Hanacaraka, a member of parliament from opposition party by former president Petro Poroshenko said this is a big mistake by the President. He said it would carry risk for the country adding, we will all have to pay for this mistake. Another opposition leader from the Batkivschina Party said the military leadership during the war is something that we must preserve, support, not criticize help in every possible way.

Some opinion polls suggest the general was more popular than the president. Ukrainian army chief complained of shortage of 500,000 soldiers and demanded more weapons and equipment. This indicates that Ukrainian forces witnessing serious shortcomings facing Russian Forces which have clear edge over Ukrainians.

In the present circumstances, Ukraine has become a potential political liability leading to the 2024 US presidential elections and also the launch of Israel's war on Gaza. For these reasons, the US is likely set to abandon Ukraine in the near future and before the November 2024 elections.

Russia's weakness was seen as its economic strength and not its military power, which explains the presumed and hyped effects of economic warfare on Russia. The US-led bloc believed that 'economic pain' would bring Russia to her knees and change Moscow's strategic interests in Ukraine. However, even a raft of economic sanctions has yet to have the desired and presumed effects on the Russian economy. Russia was not isolated in the international community, while the European Union's combined GDP fell (from five percent more than the US five years ago to some 50 per cent less now) and a loss of US$1,500 billion because of the sanctions it imposed on Russia. The various military 'wonder weapons' – such as TOW, HIMARS etc – failed to bring the promised Ukrainian military victory over Russia, and the failure of the much-hyped summer 2023 counter-offensive seemed to be the beginning of the end of unlimited support for a Ukrainian victory. There has been a noticeable evolution and change in the Western mainstream media headlines from an 'inevitable' Ukrainian victory to that of a stalemate while ignoring recent Russian territorial gains.

Battles can be won or lost on the battlefield military, whereas the outcomes of wars are determined by politics. United States of America foiled the efforts of Recep Tayyip Erdogan to bring peace and to end Russia Ukraine war because America does not want peace similar as it blocked UNSC resolution to cease fire in Gaza.

The time when west believed that Ukraine might win has been passed, and the West has become increasingly distant and elusive in their 'never-ending' support for Ukraine as the financial and, more importantly, the political cost of continuing the war mounts for the US and the European Union. The most influential factor in the US abandoning its Ukrainian project, which was always an opportunistic gamble rather than a strategic imperative for them, is next year's presidential elections.

In a nut and shell the United States of America and Europe pushed Ukraine in a fruitless war against Russia. This war is totally for the western interests and does not serve the interests of Ukraine and its people. With the passage of time frustration is growing in Ukraine and its signs are visible now. Global power scenario is changing. United States of America is no more sole superpower of the world. Peace is crying and war mongers are laughing and unfortunately Ukraine President is not understanding the loss and catastrophe is rushing towards his country and people and sooner or later he would have to sit on the table of negotiation with Russia and more better for him although it is too late but still there is a hope of peace.
